Nicholas V. Hall (b. 1991) is a composer, percussionist, educator, and arranger whose work blends rhythmic vitality with ambient textures and dynamic soundscapes. With a background spanning multiple genres, Nicholas seeks to create music that is immersive, expressive, and genre-defying. His style has been described as “beautifully ambient” with “smooth and rich dynamics” and “strong rhythmic vitality.”
His acclaimed percussion duet series, Motions, continues to be performed internationally and serves as a foundation for his broader compositional output, which has been featured by ensembles and organizations such as Sō Percussion Summer Institute, JACK Quartet, Sandbox Percussion, Catchfire Collective, the Charlotte New Music Festival, and many more. He has collaborated with many leading musicians and ensembles and has performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, National Sawdust, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall, and the Guangzhou Opera House.
Nicholas has appeared as a soloist with the LIU Post Symphony Orchestra and North Shore Symphony Orchestra and has performed with groups such as Manhattan Symphonie, Cadets Winter Percussion, Cisum Percussion, and The Socially Distant Orchestra. He is also developing #etudein60, a set of mallet and percussion etudes aimed at making contemporary techniques more accessible to students.
An active educator, Nicholas currently teaches and arranges for Roslyn High School and has held positions with Brentwood High School, Long Island Sunrisers, and others. He holds degrees from New York University (M.M. in Music Theory and Composition) and Long Island University (B.S. in Music), and proudly endorses DREAM Cymbals and Gongs.
