Toodle Looke
for xylophone solo with percussion ensemble or piano accompaniment
Toodle Looke by Wesley Denkins is a lighthearted xylophone solo with percussion ensemble accompaniment that introduces performers to the ragtime style. With steady bass lines, syncopated rhythms, and an upbeat tempo, it provides young players an engaging entry point to this classic genre.
With every performer having a meaningful role, the percussion parts are written to accommodate developing players. An optional piano reduction is included to support the xylophone soloist if performing without the full ensemble. The piece is also playable as a quintet with mallet instruments only.
Toodle Looke pays homage to the legacy of ragtime pioneers like Scott Joplin and George Hamilton Green, offering a spirited tribute that captures the energy and optimism of early 20th-century American music.
This piece ships as a fully bound score or as an instant PDF download for printing or tablet viewing. Individual parts come exclusively in PDF format.
