Downpour

Downpour by Kyle H. Peters is a forward-moving, quasi tremolo-based four-mallet marimba solo allowing performers to enhance their hand-to-hand consistency. This piece begins with a subtle inner mallet single independent figure that features cascading and ascending melodies periodically. Peters transitions through various meters utilizing these same techniques before showcasing an interlocking double lateral stroke figure. Throughout the work, the piece requires sensitivity and coordination between all four voices to smoothly bring the music to life. Downpour is playable on a 4.3-octave (low A) marimba and is an excellent technical study or short addition to a concert.
