Aaron Trewitt

Aaron Trewitt (b. 1989) is a percussionist, composer, educator, and mental health advocate. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife Katie and their two beautiful daughters, Avery and Emma.

A native North Texan, Aaron is a proud alumnus of Southern Methodist University, where he earned his Bachelor’s of Music Education (’11), studying with Doug Howard and Kalman Cherry of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Other musical mentors include Ed Smith, Jon Lee, Drew Lang, Jamal Mohamed, John Bryant, Brian Merrill, and Lynne Jackson. Aaron credits his parents (also percussionists!) with setting his musical journey into motion, inspiring him to pick up a pair of drumsticks as a toddler.

Aaron’s compositions, arrangements, and transcriptions include works for solo percussion, percussion ensemble, concert band, and digital media. His works have received positive published reviews in the Percussive Notes journal. Aaron is overjoyed to be able to contribute to the legendary Tapspace catalog!

Since 2012, Aaron has pursued his interest in education and outreach as a public educator and visible school leader. From 2012–2025, Aaron served in multiple roles at Trinity Springs Middle School in Keller, TX, including Assistant Band Director. Most recently, Aaron’s passion for youth and adolescent mental health advocacy led him to pursue his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health (’25) from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. He continues to advocate fiercely for equitable, equal access to robust educational opportunities for all K–12 students.
