Anthony DiSanza

Anthony Di Sanza (b.1966) has performed and presented master classes throughout North America, Asia and Europe. Di Sanza serves as percussion professor at the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he was recognized in 2020 with the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professorship. Active in a variety of Western and non-Western percussive traditions, he can be heard on many internationally distributed audio and video recordings as a soloist and with various artists. In review of his solo CD release, On the nature of…, All Music Guide writes; “Di Sanza dazzles not only in the assurance and polish of his playing but in his tremendous vitality and spontaneity.” Recent recording releases include Don’t Look Down (2020) by the electro-acoustic trio Curry, Hetzler & Di Sanza and Duniya (2024) by the global percussion quintet Ensemble Duniya. A series of eight videos of new repertoire by Ensemble Duniya was released summer 2025.

Di Sanza’s percussion compositions have been performed internationally, and his signature marimba mallets are produced by Encore Mallets. He has served as principal percussionist with the Madison Symphony Orchestra since 1999. Anthony earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Youngstown State University and graduate degrees in percussion performance from the University of Michigan. Anthony is an endorser of Black Swamp Percussion, Sabian Cymbals, Marimba One, Encore Mallets, Remo Drumheads and Pro-Mark Drumsticks.
