Chuck Ricotta

Since 2002, Chuck Ricotta (b. 1977) has served as the Percussion Director and Arranger for the University of Michigan Marching Band. He also currently serves as the percussion arranger for the Penn State University Marching Blue Band. He has previously served on the percussion staffs of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps and the Penn State University Indoor Drumline. In 2021, Ricotta served as the percussion arranger for the Intercollegiate Marching Band, which performed the halftime show for the NCAA College Football National Championship Game.

In addition to marching percussion, Ricotta currently serves as the principal percussionist for the Flint Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with numerous orchestras including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Michigan Opera Theatre, the Ann Arbor Symphony, the Traverse City Philharmonic, and the New World Symphony. Ricotta has appeared as a featured soloist with the Flint Symphony Orchestra, the University of Michigan Percussion Ensemble, the Penn State University Percussion Ensemble, and at Carnegie Hall with the Concordia University of Ann Arbor Wind Ensemble.

Ricotta holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Penn State University, where he was honored with the Performer’s Recognition Award. He is an educational artist for Yamaha Percussion, Zildjian Cymbals, Remo Drumheads, and Innovative Percussion. Ricotta resides in Ann Arbor where he also maintains a private teaching studio.
