Keaton Jones (b. 2000) is a graduate from Tennessee Technological University where he received a Bachelor’s in Music Education, where he studied with Colin Hill, Marco Schirripa, Christopher Jones, and Jayce Clemons. While at TTU, he:
Performed in the TTU Percussion Ensemble showcase concert at the 2019 Tennessee Music Educators Association Convention.
Performed with the TTU drumline at the 2020 National Collegiate Cheer and Dance Competition in Orlando, Florida.
Was a member of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra in Cookeville, TN for their 2021-2022 season. -Competed in the 2022 PASIC Collegiate Percussion Ensemble Competition.
Received first place in the 2023 PAS Tennessee Day of Percussion collegiate snare drum competition.
Performed in showcase concerts with Michael Burritt, The Big Trouble, She-E Wu, Casey Cangelosi, and Mark Ford.
In 2024, he became a founding member of Southeast Percussion Group, an independent percussion ensemble founded by Ethan McDaniel, Professor of Percussion at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
Keaton is currently pursuing a Master’s in Percussion Performance from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, studying with Dr. Christopher Butler. As a Graduate Assistant, he works with the University’s athletic bands, percussion department, and music theory department. He is also a member of the Hathor Percussion Quartet, the newly-founded resident graduate percussion quartet at SIU.
An advanced work for solo snare drum that plays off the concept of “stutter” through a variety of techniques and irregular rhythmic groupings.
