Kibo (band version)
for solo snare drum and wind ensemble
Kibo by Andrea Venet is a Grade 4 feature for solo snare drum with concert band, adapted from her popular original version for snare drum and mallet quartet. The snare solo part is unchanged, offering performers the same mix of rudimental vocabulary, sticking permutations, dynamic shaping, and groove-driven writing that define the original.
Named after the highest of Mt. Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cores, Kibo is also inspired, in part, by the rhythmic and harmonic language of Toto’s Africa. Rudimental elements by Bob Becker, John S. Pratt, and Joseph Tompkins can also be found in this exciting work. The piece blends energetic grooves with bold ensemble writing and offers a flexible showcase for an advanced snare soloist.
This piece ships as a fully bound score or as an instant PDF download for printing or tablet viewing. Individual parts come exclusively in PDF format. For added convenience, the snare part is offered in both legal-size (fewer pages) and letter-size versions.
